    Oil leaks on TD5

My D2 TD5 developed two oils leaks. All engine oil.
The one comes from the rear top of the engine but not from the half moon gasket at tapet cover. Seems like it comes from the gasket between the carrier part and cylinder head.
The second one comes from the oil filter area. This one always appears about 5000Km after a service and its not the filter that does not seal proprely. It's getting worse and it leak a sure bit and leaves its mark on every parking bay.
This one I must fix cause if it leaks even more the engine could be damadged.
Anybody had simmilar problems or suggestions?

It could be that the filter leak is oil running down off the filter that has leaked elsewhere - such as from the spot at the back?
I had a great deal of trouble with the half-moon at the back, untill I found that LR had fitted the wrong gasket when the head was replaced. There are two, and one has a larger half-moon.
Also, when you seal this with silicone, you must ensure the drain which is just in front of where it seals (under the cover) is not sealed with silicone!
To put the cover on properly, you really need to remove the engine rear acoustic cover, I got to this with a 10mm socket held in multi grips as a normal 1/2" drive wouldn't fit. I also degreased the rear of the engine and wiped a bead of silicone around what feels like a welch plug or rubber grommet that is back there.
With the filter leak, despite what it says on the packet, I have always tightened the filter with a strap wrench as it is too hard to get a good grip on it by hand.

P.S. in regards to the tappet cover gasket - I think if the "thingy" that fits on top of the head (spacer between tappet cover and head)has been updated such as when fitting a new head perhaps, the gasket may not be the type listed as per the vehicle VIN as the "thingy" it fits may have been upgraded to the later one.

I did use a new gashket but the existing spacer bushes for the cover seems a tad too long.
The Rave CD shows what to do and what to look out for.
    Will recheck this and see.

I ran a small bead of sealant under the rubber cover gasket and the leaks is gone.
It seems the rear part of the gasket did not make full contact.
The leak at filter did come from the filter.
Tightened it with strap this time.
    Time will tell.

Yep the bead of silicone is the go. My RAVE even says to do this.
    Have fun,
