Hi all,
Just thought I'd let you know what I've been up to.

Still restoring my 1953 80", almost ready to start on the body.

In August I bought a 1999 110 Defender TD5, had 149000 k on it,planning on a trip to Broome next year, after this trip the Defender will be for sale, I just don't need 40 registered Land Rovers.

In the past some readers were asking about air con for the Defender. After a lot of looking and talking I had a Red Dot A/C unit fitted, part number is
R-6830-0, rated at 33,000 BTU, it fits on the hump between the front seats where the cubbing used to be,has four adjustable outlets, its actually not as high as the cubby box but about the same length, if you look at Red-dot website it will tell you all about it. As far as I'm concerned its the ony way to go!

Since buying the defender I've fitted a full length alu. roof rack with ladder,
a 60ltr Engel fridge, dual batteries, storage drawers made and fitted by a local bloke in Cairns, EGR bypass kit, made quite a difference to the engine,
also fitted all new tie rod ends and pitman arm, K&N airfilter, Donaldson pre cleaner on the snorkel, high tensile rear wheel flanges, just had a new visco fan fitted, new belt and tensioner, new radiator filled with Eco-Cool Organic Coolant and several other minor items fixed.
Its a really great machine, been up Cape York twice this year plus many other short trips, not a problem, getting just over 11 k to the litre, hopefully this will improve, haven't check milage since installing the bypass kit.
If anyone would like more info let me know, also can supply photos if wanted.
Regards, Papadad
