    Help re Alternator for 300tdi

    Hi all,

the LRA "parts clearance" site lists 2 alternators for the 300tdi D1,

    AMR 5425 for $259.99+
    AMR 4248 for $716.05+

the microcat disc list only AMR 4248

can anybody tell me if the substantially cheaper AMR 5425 will suffice ?

    thanks - Laurie

Also, I don't know the difference but AMR4248 is up to 1996 Discos, AMR5425 is 1997 on.
    Both are 100A.

the cheaper AMR 5425 has been ordered....

I'm thinking that the difference could be the pulley diameter, so I may need to change the pulley (to keep the rev counter right)
