Or maybe I can use Disco I calipers? I have a set of them...
I am in the process (long and slow) of rebuilding a Holden Ute (W.
One of the jobs I am doing is upgrading the standard braking system.
I am converting to 4 wheel discs and I want to go to a larger disc and better calipers.
I have seen conversion kits for sale that use twin piston calipers (sliding), but I really want four piston calipers. I enquired how much a four piston caliper setup would cost and it was going to add about $1000 to the cost!
My question is, if I get the hub and disc setup with no calipers, do you think the Defender calipers would be up to the task? My gut feeling is they would be fine, provided I had the correct bore in the master cylinder. I would just need to make (or have made) an adaptor plate to bolt the calipers to the hub upright.
The WB master cylinder is a 1 inch bore, what does a Defender use?

It's a Holden ute BigJon,it can't be that hard. There must be a holden model that has what you need,I'd read some street machine mags and find out what those guys use. Pat
There are common aftermarket conversions using single or twin piston sliding calipers, but I want to use four piston calipers. I have Disco calipers in the shed, so it would make sense to use them (cheaper).
The Valiant blokes use Landcruiser or Hilux calipers and they are almost bolt on. later Valiants used the PBR calipers the same as Holdens so you might find the Toyota calipers go close to your Holden as well.
Hi,
Google Hoppers Stoppers (in Vic). The upgrade you seek is their daily business.
cheers, DL
Prices are steep, Castlemaine rod shop also do brackets to mount commonwhore calipers which you can find in 4 piston variety to holden HQ to WB stubs. I have a 1958 FC sedan with HR front with hq stubs and VN commo rotors/ hq calipers (although looking at commo as well ) a VB salisbury diff with VN disc brake setup. The VN rears will suit your holden diff as they all share the same brake bracket mounts from EH to WB.
