    97 disco wont start.

Hi all first post on this forum and looking forward to more.Just bought a 97 3.9 auto disco very cheap but it isnt running. The owner said it runs well when it starts which is not all that often resently.Originaly it was running rough at low rpm and spluttering when accelerating so it went in for a tune up. The mechanic had it for 2 weeks and couldnt fix it but still sent a bill for $1650.00.A customer of mine, her father owns the vehicle and asked if i could take a look at it for him,as i have been a mechanic for 27 years and still am.Thinking this is just another job it couldnt be all that hard of i go tools in hand and solve the problem. Mmm not that easy .Firstly the invoice said he had changed, plugs, leads, cap and rotor, coil, fuel pump which all look new.I checked the spark at the coil and it was good but at the spark plug end it was a little weak.Pulled the intake pipe at the tb and hit it up with aero start but no joy not even a cough splutter or backfire.Pulled the plugs and they were all wet.Checked for injector pulse o.k.Good fuel pressure at inj rail.Has me stumped.Any clues regards Keith

Did you buy it cheap or are you looking at it for your customers Father??

Anyhow, try unplugging the MAF, if it fires up it will run rich,
this is just a test to see if MAF has anything to do with it not starting

Inertia switch? How does that kill the engine? Could that be the cause of the no go?
