Diff Centre Studs, can they be removed???

Anyone know if the 10 studs that hold the diff centre (not Salisbury) into the axle housing can be removed, if so do they have splines to stop them rotating when doing up or undoing the nyloc nuts.
They have a round flat head on the inside and I can't see anything that would stop them rotating if they were removed and reinstalled, unless of course they have splines on the shank, like a wheel stud, help anyone, Regards Frank.

4 of the studs that are in line with the axles at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock are too short for the centre diff housing.
A 93 Disco diff centre (with 4.11 CWP and ARB locker) is going into a 94 Disco axle housing and vice versa the 93 diff centre at 9 and 3 is thinner at those points, the 94 centre casting is thicker at these points and when it goes into a 93 axle housing the bolts are too short.
Plus most of the studs on the 94 housing are have damaged threads and need repair, lot easeir to do in the vice on the bench.
Thanks for the info much appreciated, Regards Frank.

Likely so, but little, 1/2" UNF if I remember rightly

Usually only ever need to bash them out for Hilux diff centre conversions

An old thread I know, but I've just run into the same issue on the front of my '85 110.

Couple of weeks back I temporarily replaced the broken 10 spline front center with one from an early 10 spline D1 - which was the same and bolted straight in.

Last night I removed it, and tried to fit a '97 24 spline D1 center (with locker), but found the problem with the original 4 studs at 9 and 3 o'clock being shorter.

Just wish I had noticed before I applied the sealant and got it all in place
Will clean up the mess and fit the longer studs tonight.

    Steve
