Good quality upgrade kits are available in the shop on this site >>>>>>>>> Harness upgrade <<<<<<<<.
It's really worth doing an upgrade as it solves any overloading problems, as well as improving the output of your lights.

My headlights blew after driving 3hrs with my highbeams on the other night . happened to be on my xmas road trip which is a right pain, luckily blew just as i got to our destination in Western Victoria, the lights all still work except the park lights as when i flash my highbeams the headlights and driving lights all still come on
However i had heard from a few Defender people that the headlights are wired straight through the switch so all the current is drawn off the one point.
i was hoping ot put in a Relay to reduce the current.
Can anyone help with where to put the relay? in the engine bay? dash? use existing power lines or relay all together?
my headlights are standard, though have two driving lights aftermarket with their own relay in the engine bay.

i suspect it's your headlight switch that's shot not the lights themselves. I would suggest pulling it out and checking the contacts for any discolouration from over heating. Also remember the lights will only come on when the ignition is on when you are fault finding on the headlights.
drivesafe on the forum makes the wiring upgrade kits mentioned above and is the person to talk to: Traxide
