What exactly do you mean by "shift kits"?
What would you expect to see in the kit?

I'm no ZF guru, but I'm pretty sure you can change the way they shift by kickdown cable adjustment. The cable tension controls line pressure.

Do a search on here using something like 'kickdown cable adjustment'.

You can buy kits for the automatic which changes shift points, how tight the bands grab, the speed of the change. All of which lead to longer box life, it will however shift a LOT firmer. The kits contain different springs for the change point pressure & some even have a different plate for the oil galleries which then stops the 2 gears at one on changes. You can even get a kit to fully manualise ( <- my special word) the Auto for those who so wish.
After a lot of searching today it seems the "ZF" auto is common enough for it to be a likely thing.
Not sure on a stage 2 kit or full manual kit yet.

ZF's don't have bands like most other auto's, there is modifications you can perform, but good luck finding the info

Gotta be careful with some fully manualised shifts, as they loose engine braking and coast in 1st and also are reversed pattern, but that's not on a ZF

ZF's aren't C9's like the one in my POS. You can't whack in kevlar bands and a valve body, etc. (mine is unreal still after 60,000 k's, thanks Colin )

I would be contacting either the ZF local licensed repairer or Ashtrans as if you tweak something incorrectly you will end up with an expensive neutral box- as above they are not like a ford/GM/Mopar box where you can add an off the shelf shift kit. BMW and Mercedes have used ZF boxes amongst others.

While I thank you for your link & information , my second reply if you bothered to read it was to inform eckoslim what was in a kit & what it did. Funnily enough part of my apprenticeship as a mechanic was in an automatic repair shop, just never encountered the "zf" tranny.

Oh & thanks for the insult at the bottom as well ( reason for editing) ...........

We're only trying to help mate. $4 to 5k in the states to put in a 'kit' that might only require a cable adjustment to deliver what you want.
