It sounds like a mechanical problem so whip the door trim off & see what's going on.
Sometimes the arms can bind up if they get bent/twisted or the channel can swell with rust & catch on the arms.
Another day, another problem!
I wound down the front passenger electric window on my 1990 RRC, now it only goes halfway up and halfway down.
The other 3 windows work fine.
Has anybody else encountered this problem before?
Much appreciated!

You're such a pessimist.

check your switch that operates window . swap the wires onto another one n see if it works . may even be only a bad connection so give the wires a wiggle whilst trying to raise the window . if its not a loose wire or a crook switch it can be 2 things your winder motor is stuffed or its jammed due to a mechanical problem . most likely there is an arm with gears on it and another actuator arm that is only pressure stamped onto it . i just welded mine back 2 where i could see it had released from. take off door skin and shove a piece of wood or something in the door to keep window up . pull out the the guts of it through the larger hole on bottom of door . you can then take your time to fix it and your car will still be able 2 lock up , if you have 2 get a mate to weld it or purchase a second hand one .good luck
Ditto that, if it operates, but only half way, its binding somewhere
Just fixed my rear today, just the norm, CO contact cleaner the switch and away it goes
I've also had one fail, the resetting CB inside the actuator stayed open cct, I quick bash and it hasn't failed again in a year and a half![]()
I fixed the electric windows in my 85 the other month.
After countless times checking wiring, fuses, swapping switches etc; I decided it was a mechanical problem.
It was a mechanical problem. The grease in the window motors had dried out and hardened to the point where the motor couldn't turn by itself. I pulled them out, hosed WD40 in to soften the grease and they started working again.
Window fixed!
A piece of metal had bent and was snagging on the motor.
Thanks for all the advice. A fast and free fix was nice for a change!
