Have seen these plugged before Denco Diesel + Turbo - Intercoolers but my only question is how come you "may need" a power chip and when you do, combined it's only a 20% increase?????
not to mention all the extra add ons it requires.

Chipping alone can give over 20% so either the chip, the intercooler or both are a bit naff in my book ....
    Cheers

Without a core you would get the least pressure drop however not much cooling would occur. Pressure drop is important however temperature drop is the purpose of the cooler, your selection needs to be based on facts which are not that readily available.

    Suck it and see
Very True, the whole idea of an intercooler (technically they are called aftercoolers) is to cool the air.
So when you are choosing an intercooler you have to compromise between pressure drop and air cooling ability. This is usually a trial and error decision; i would start with greater cooling but higher pressure drop.

I would look at what other people have done with their conversions and make an informed guesstimation on what you need.

That;s because you'll see bugger all difference with an intercooler without upping the fuelling

They err to much on the side of caution, that's why its only 20% increase, otherwise risks of overfueling and deading the customers engine occurs

Is the risk of a coolant leak into the air side and subsequent engine hydraulicing) with these chinese coolers anything to be concerned about?

This is the only thing which has put me off trying one of these setups on my TD42T but maybe I worry too much....
