    Maths, tacho, YAY.

ok ,my meter with the tacho and the dwell timing has shot itself.

    heres the problem.

I need to tach the engine to set the idle speed when Im done faffing the carbs.

Using ONLY a multimeter with a Hz setting that works on and voltage from .5-500v.

With the multimeter hooked up across the coil of a 4 stroke v8 what frequency should I expect to read on the multi meter to indiacte 500, 600, 800, 1000 and 1200 RPM?

    As above

4 cylinders fire per rpm therefore 4 times as many pulses per minute as rpm: 4 x 500 = 2000
60 secs per minute therefore to get the pulses per sec: 2000 / 60 = 33.3333
