    Help Me Identify This Fitting...

I'm changing the fuel line in my Defender, and I want to step it up to 8mm fuel line. This of course means changing the compression fittings at the fuel tank and lift pump, and the banjo fitting at the injector pump.

Can anyone tell me what this compression fitting is, and if it possible to get a replacement one here??

Presuming that it's a Tdi defender, have a read of this:

    LR to CAV options

that will get you from the injector pump to the fuel filter - outlet and inlet.

For the lift pump, that 'barbed compression adaptor' ( To the best of my memory that's what that standard part is called) in an 8mm tail may not be available at Pirtek etc to fit the pipes of the lift pump ( I forget what dia the lift pump pipes are) If there is such an adaptor, don't forget the olive for it.

At the sedimenter, you should be able to get normal 1/2 inch barbed ends with 8mm tail - they are generally standard on the fuel filter in the above article. Widely used in boating.

At the fuel tank end, that could be a problem. The inlet and return pipes are the same size as the fuel lift pump and have similar fittings to what you have pictured.. I think. But taking the olive off them and refitting another adaptor could be difficult.

At least you can get some of the way. The oil proof line in my Disco is still going strong, not a leak.

On my 300 TDI Disco, my fuel return line rubbed on the air con pipe, now this is the hard rubber type fuel line, what a PIA to fix that, I had to use a double burb air fitting,(rubber hose from that to injector pump) A lot of hot water and a LOT of pushing, as I could not push the fuel barded (like your pic) end in I had to go the air line, this was the day before Xmas.

To rephrase then - how can I join 8mm fuel line to an 8mm metal tube?

Say exactly that at Pirtek - I was there today and they have their range of fittings displayed, and there are multiple sizes of it: I am reasonably sure they have one in 8mm compression end.

you want an 8mm barb to 8mm compression union fitting which looks exactly like what you have in the picture.
