Well they did it and told me it was about 50% blocked. This would have caused the overheating on highway runs.
I noticed that on shutdown after using the A/C that the Fans no longer run on for the 10 mins like before, so the heat soak must be better now.![]()
Good to here you got it sorted. Looks like mine is the same as it over heated a few times in the resent heat. If you dont mind me asking how much did it cost. Also is the radiator pretty straight forward to remove, any special tricks or tools needed. I will have to drop mind off to get sorted. I'll have to add another thing to my to do list.
Cheers, David.
Cost me $95.
Easy to remove a rad on a disco,
1. Unclip the fan shroud fan cover ,
2. unclip the fan shroud retaining clips, lift and slide forward.
3. Removes the hoses, the bottom one takes some work as the weld themself on if been on too long.
4. Unscrew the transmission or engine oil cooler pipes.
5. Unbolt and remove the 2 top radiator support brackets.
6. grab Radiator with 2 hands and lift in up direction. It only sits in 2 grommets on chassis
All up 1/2 hr job
fitting reverse proceedure.
WARNING! This is the bush way, the enviro friendly method would involve not allowing the coolant to drop into a container and get into the enviroment. I still haven't worked out how that works as after you remove the coolant enviromentally, and pour it into a container, where do you then get ris of the coolant.?
