    FWIW my alternator died recently and I had a chinese clone of the original fitted for $250 all up. Seems to be working fine. 200 Tdi.

    update

    When to start the car this morning....nuthin......oh welllll

    Down to the auto electrician for recon alternator.....$275 later......

    No worries, at least it's all fixed up now and under warranty!
