    ABS NOISE

I am a new Land Rover owner (first land rover purchase)
I have a 2000 Series TD5 diesel auto five seat Discovery, second hand of course with over 230,000 kilometres on it.
very straight and tidy unit, with the upgraded chip already installed and the head has been repaired with the steel locating pins. this all sounds good and I purchased the vehicle mainly for towing and will love to get back into off roading soon.......
I would like to ask ,.//////.......is anyone familiar with a noise that is constant, slight whirring noise, eminating from the ABS unit under the bonnet. after the engine has been turned off and hours later I have gone back to the car and heard the noise under the bonnet.
Any ideas I would love to know, where to start if it is at all a problem.

Thanks and looking froward to many years of land rover ownership

    ABS Noise

Yup, normal for the ABS modulator in the D2 to quietly hum itself off to sleep. The noise is a very slight wirring?

This is a slight whirring? This isn't uncommon with the D2 ABS modulator, I must confess I haven't checked EVERY one I come across, but those that I have listened closely to are doing it.

Cant think why the ABS unit (ABS Modulator) makes any noise after turning the motor off! You definate its the ABS? If so you can check any Dealer by providing your VIN # to make sure it had the recall. Not that this fault would cause the noise though. ???????????, Think I'll check mine now.!!

Hope you get some good advise.

Mine's always made a very quiet ticking noise. Have to get your head next to it to hear it though. With the bonnet down or engin running you can't hear anything.

I'm sure there was a thread on this awhile ago.

Both my current and old D2 both did this. I believe it's normal.

Normal, all the ones i have had have done it,its a sort of faint buzzing sort of noise.

Also keepan eye on the nuts on the ABS mounting bolts, mine felloff after many miles on corragations, and that causes a real loud rattle.
