Gday,
I am currently rebuilding my R380 and have encountered the following problem.
I bought a rebuild kit and were sent 6 large baulk rings in it, 2 different types, 4 of one type and 2 of the other. I have worked out where the type with 4-off are from, but the other type has me confused
As can be seen in the photos attached, the ring on the left is a new one and it has a few things different with it compared to the old one on the right. Differences include the older type having teeth the entire circumference, not having the protrusions on one side (seen in first pic) and not having the indents on the inside (best seen on 2nd pic), plus others...
Just wondering, does this matter at all? Or was it a general modification/improvement in the new baulk rings?
The RR CD I have lists PN's for a R380: so I can answer about the two different types. Cross referenced with RAVE, (Exploded diagram R380 pg 2 /3) and
1-2-3-R ( 16/23/25/35) (FTC3584)
4-5 ( 12/39)( FTC2731 or FTC5018)
ie the ring nearest the input shaft and the one nearest the last bearing at the other end are the different types.
Bear in mind that the part list for the RR could be out of date and incorrect, but it sounds reasonable that the end rings on the shaft are different.
