    Death by NANOCOM

    Hey,

Basically i saved the map and settings files and then uploaded the new map it got within 10bytes of the end and spat an error message and that was it! Now I have one very expensive paper weight! Got my D2 towed to LRA this morning and they couldnt even access the ECU with a rovercom also rang around a few places and they say they cant do anything with it. so I am using a borrowed ECU atm till my new (2nd hand) ECU turns up next week.

Has this happen to anyone else? I have done this so many times on other people's cars and never had any problems. Even had a few bomb out 1/2 way but didn't have any problems restarting it map write. Just my luck it happens to my new wife's car

Question - does anyone know where i can get a replacement E PROM chip? or can that even be done? What options do i have?

I suggest you email Mattia and Nanocom. I had an issue where I lost all of my unlock codes and he just emailed me a reset program. Worked a treat.

As McDisco said email or phone Mattia ASAP.
If Nanocom can't help, do a Google search for Discovery (TD5?) ECU. You will probably gets some hits from EBay. There are also some LR performance companies such as Rovacom & others who can either swap out your ECU or sell you an Eprom chip either standard or performance. Cheers..B

A new ECU from LR is $675, or give Tombie2 a PM he may be able to help.

Someone else with a Nanocom may be able to re-load another map file over the top, we have uploaded files to our ECU and they have had an error just before the end, we have managed to re-load another file onto the ECU.

Have you tried to re-load the firmware on the Nanocom?

    Baz.

I have tried 2 nanocoms and a rovercom the eprom is fried so no map is going to fix it what i need is someone with an EPROM programmer so i can take the eprom out of the ECU housing and reflash the eprom I now have a copy of the base image.

    email from NANOCOM -

    Hi,
Unfortunately in your condition there is no diagnostic tool areable to fix the problem, your ecu need to be reprogrammed with a flash programmer. you must open the ECU and remove the flash program with the attached file with a flash programmer and then mount it again on the circuit.
This operation must be executed by expert technician, I suggest you to contact a tuner near your town to do the work, they have all the stuff necssary to remove program and mount back. If you don't know no one near you I suggest you to ask to www.td5alive.com maybe you can get from them a new chip already programmed, and you have just to find someone who mount the chip.

    Regards
    Mattia

Bad earth / low voltage during programming killed it...

You're on the right track to fix it up...

Where did you get your base maps ?
