Steering wheel repair
I have been test driving a few Discovery 2s and almost all of them have the steering wheel starting to disintegrate on the outer surface. This feels bad while driving and looks unsightly.
*Is there a way to repair them? Air bag wheels are frightfully expensive.
*Can the air bag be removed and fitted to a replacement wheel?
*Can decent steering wheel covers be found that feel as good as a new wheel?
*A car dealer told me that steering wheel covers are illegal as they can slip on the wheel, is this true?
*Could an upholsterer do a good permanent steering wheel cover?

TR Spares sell a nice leather bound replacement job for about $285 from memory.
Remove your airbag, remove your old wheel. Then fit the new wheel and your original aibag. Easy job and the wheel has a nice factory look.
cheers
