DISCO I wana get high

Im looking at buying my first disco its a 94 model 3.9 v8 auto it has 31s and a 2in iron-man 2in spring and shock combo. But i don't think this will be enough to keep up with my mates who are mainly running GQ patrols or hiluxs with 35s and plenty or lift. So my question is how do i get a disco to to run with the big boys I see a lot of disco owners with 2in spring and 2in body lifts on 33s but I would like to run 35s and more lift can any one point me in the right direction for what springs shocks I can use or adapt to fit a disco and where I can purchase them from any help would be much appreciated.

Go for a decent set of MT tyres. The Disco is a very capable vehicle standard, let alone with a 2" lift. When offroad it will keep up with the Tojos and Pootrols no problem with decent tyres. The Disco has the advantage of huge amounts of wheel travel, so can get traction down when others are lifting wheels.

I was out last weekend with a few guys with lifted and locked Tojos. Was a wet day so muddy tracks. They were very surprised I could go everywhere they went and I was on AT tyres which are not very aggressive.

Mate you will very very surprised at what the disco can keep up with when pushed....ive a three inch's all round use combo of tires, springs and spaces and my brother has a four in lifted pootrol...and even when mine was std i still followed him wherever he went ....

I have no doubts that the disco is very capable machine. I have seen it in action. It went well majority of the time but the main problem it seemed to have was the diffs bottoming out on the ground and in the end managed to bend the drag link behind the front diff like a banana hence me wanting to run bigger tyers to get it up off the ground. I'm also a bit worried on how well it would handle a boggy deep water crossing what should I look out for when buying a 2nd hand disco they have any problem components or weak areas that could be improved.

no you're right that combo with a decent tread pattern wont keep up with your mates in their worked over pootrols and toymotas.

I suggest you invest in a good fridge, gas cooker and in car entertainment system so you have something on hand to eat, drink and do while you wait for them to catch up.

Did a search and been reading through a few things over the last few days. It seems the way to go is 2in spring lift, 2.5 body lift, cut the guards and chuck on some tyers on some off set rims (what off set?). But I also noticed some of you guys with higher spring lifts but not being able to find to much detail on how this was achieved and what parts were used.

25mm offset or go to the link i gave you and have your disco steelies reversed
