After boil is a sign of other problems in the cooling system.

The twin thermo switches on the coolant outlet elbow (one green, one yellow I think) are not designed for normal use - they are supposed to activate if coolant gets above a certain point in extremely hot conditions. On shutdown, it's got to get to 110 deg before the ECU timer kicks in. The same system is used for the diesel Disco as well, hence the use of the same parts. Unless you have been really pushing the car hard on 40 deg days, you don't see the fans coming on after shutdown. I'd suggest examining the rest of the cooling system to see if everything else is as it should be.

The switch kicks in at 100c after a predetermined time stopped or running.
Me also thinks you have other problems particularly if it's coming on after you shutdown.....

    Cheers

Afterboil is often a sign of blocked radiator and/or thermostat and waterpump issues.

The coolant is too hot and after soaking in the head when off is boiling.

Also check your radiator cap is holding pressure.

    My personal recommendation would be:

    new or rodded radiator
    new coolant
    new waterpump
    new thermostat
    new coolant cap

cheap insurance against inconvenience and expense of engine failure!
