Check that the stereo is happy on an angle.
I have a Pioneer CD that is not happy at the angle that Land Rover use in the Defender.
Tony
I have a MUD console, and a stereo (single DIN) I want to fit.
Anyone fitted a stereo to angled top of MUD console ?
I need to know:
- How is the stereo supported?
- Did you cut the hole exactly in the centre (top to bottom) of the angled portion of the console?
- what's the best tool to cut the hole?
- anything else I need to know...
I notice some have fitted the stereo to the bottom of the front of the console, but surely the gear stick gets in the way there, especially when wanting to change CD's etc.
Thank You
and yes I know about this thread, from when I asked last time

but there may be more people on the site who've done this by now.
Worth asking again, anyway.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

It's a Pioneer - I did look in the manual some time ago and it claims it will be OK.

I've fitted the Aldi stereo on mine. I didn't cut my dash behind the MUD Console, so there was no way I could fit it anywhere else.
I cut the hole by scoring it several times with a stanley knife, using a ruler for straight edges. I mounted it centrally.
The cradle for the stereo then clips into the hole. Since I didn't cut my dash, I use a small piece of closed cell foam rubber between the cradle and the top of the dash to prevent it bouncing on rough roads. Though I suspect it may stay in place anyway without the rubber.
I chose the Aldi stereo not just because I'm cheap, but it also has USB and SD card slots. My music sits in an SD card and can never jump. The kids music goes in the CD Player, but that has never jumped either. On long road trips, where I carry a laptop, I can transfer music files from the laptop to a USB stick and plug in a different selection for each day. Fot about $90 it offers greater stability & versatility than any other stereo.
Michael2 - got any pics of this setup ? (ie as you installed it) perchance ?
