Both for normal travel to charge both. When stopped for extended time switch to battery to run lights ect. It will only charge the batt it is set on so remember to switch it to both. Follow the cables back to the batteries to find which one is 1 or 2. cheers Brett
AFAIK it is just a BIG rotary switch often used for marine.
Hella and others make them.
You switch to "both" while driving, and as said to the battery you want to run the fridge etc when stopped..
