    dizzy Advance weights

    Hi all, hey can any one tell me if this is corect or not,I have a 1997 V8, 3.9L, I have replaced the vac advance unit, it has like a hall effect sensor , DO THEY STILL HAVE WEIGHTS AS WELL?

    Sure thing, weights is what drives the advance curve, move the rotor against the springs and hear the weights move. The sensor is magnetic, not a hall sensor by the way. Hall sensors run a slotted steel skirt through a gap in a sensor pickup. The pic shows a hall effect dissy. Only modern cars have ignition timing set by the ECU.
