Fuel tank manufacture - Tig Welding

    Hey all,

I need to get a fuel tank made for Sam's stage 1.

I had the sides laser cut out of 2mm steel but havent got the other panels yet. I can supply them if needed.

Does anyone know anyone who is good at making fuel tanks.

I am not 100% I can do it without any pin holes and therefore using some sort of chemical sealer.

    Maybe will need Tig welding?

    SE qld ideally

Mig welding is fine, make sure everything is super clean. Pressure test your completed tank with a BBQ regulator on compressed air (very low pressure, won't damage tank), use soapy water. grind off dags and leaks and reweld. Good practice. No danger and eventually you get all the leaks.

I'm sure that Ho Har will sort you out, but if you are still stuck, my Dad has built and/or repaired many fuel tanks over the years (TIG and oxy).
Let me know if you need his contact details.

Are you copying an original tank? 2mm seems a little heavy ...

Longranger make there tanks from 2mm and are pressure tested at 5psi for 5 days (so they say)

Tig is best but mig is good on steel
