Lara has started a new thread about his TD5 engine here on LR4x4 forum
I thought some of the members here might be interested in his 2.8 litre TD5 mods.
Just pulled my engine out of the 90 for a strip-down and inspection, no reason for it really other than I thought it was about time to have a look after almost 100,000K of fault free (fairly hard) motoring!
Thought I would post up the rebuild for others to see.
This will be a standard check and basic rebuild but I will go over in fair detail the complete modifications needed etc to get it to 2.8 litres, and what exactly it involved. Head and inlet manifold modifications, Turbo and manifold etc, everything you need to know.
engine is completely stripped now and found to be in miraculously good condition, I have seen worse engines after 20K let alone 100!! so am very pleased!!

Sorry, the link is ok, but apparently the members vehicle forum (where the particular thread is) can only be viewed by forum members.
People can go to the forums page and register.
And worth registering for, LR4x4 has the second-best tech section for LRs.![]()
I cant believe I wasnt actually registered there...

PITA, but I understand why they did it this way.
