And if you have been winding it over heaps ... Just remember the pots are full of fuel (Thats if the fuel side is working) ... So you will have to crank the motor over with your foot flat to the floor to shut the Injectors down ....

Steve, Have you read my post at all, if you follow what I wrote you will get the TIMING & PLUG LEADS right.
Your statement: Quote: The next morning went out to have better look at it and it wouldn't start
first thing i noticed was the leads where not in the right order all the right bank was in a line 1357 i assumed that this was the
Steve the right bank (passeger side) IS 1357 the drivers side is 2468.
On my V8 disco the large cutout notch in the pulley IS NOT the TDC mark, the TDC is stamped onto the outer ring and it has graduations marked either side of the TDC mark.
IF you follow my instructions to the letter and there being no other cause, like dead coil, no fuel, etc, etc, then the motor will start, once started you adjust the timing to L/R specs with a timing light, NOT before you start the engine, Regards Frank.
Good call i will check it
it has to be something i can fit a dizzy no probs normally
Got this from a repair pdf online
http://www.landmania.pt/biblioteca/M...haulManual.pdf
1 Ensure timing pointer is aligned with 30 mark
on crankshaft pulley and No.1 piston is on the
compression stroke.
2. Engine numbers without suffix B: Position
oil pump drive shaft tongue at the ten to four
position.
3. Lubricate a new ’O’ ring with engine oil and fit
to distributor.
4. Turn distributor drive until rotor arm is
approximately 30° anti-clockwise from No.1
spark plug segment in distributor cap.
5. Insert distributor into timing cover, engage
drive gear and push distributor down until ’O’
ring enters bore; position distributor clamp on
stud.
6. Engine numbers without suffix B: Locate
slotted adaptor to oil pump drive shaft tongue.
7. Check that centre line of rotor arm is aligned
with No.1 spark plug segment in distributor cap
and reference marks on distributor body and
clamp are aligned; reposition distributor if
necessary.
8. Remove rotor arm.
9. Rotate distributor to position pick-up opposite
nearest reluctor tooth.
10. Fit distributor clamp nut ensuring that
counterbored portion is towards clamp; tighten
nut.
11. Fit rotor arm.
Would the other notch on the balancer be 30 degrees
Also what i did notice TDC isn't mentioned
Update
It runs at last disconnected the air flow meter and bingo away it sputtered
Now while its running if i connect it again it makes no difference what so ever
So i found my problem
Thanks to all
Just to clarify
When i said the leads were 1357 it was plugged into the cap that way
All 4 leads were pluged into the cap next to each other
The order is 18436572 into the cap in a clockwise direction as you stated
You will notice
piston 1 fires 1st
piston 3 fires 4th
piston 5 fires 6th
piston 7 fires 7th
My leads were
piston 1 fires 1st
piston 3 fires 2nd
piston 5 fires 3rd
piston 7 fires 4th
I was amazed it even ran
I did read all the posts and most were spot on i couldn't have asked for a clearer description
Again thanks for all the help everyone
