    Latest fishing report: Eildon

Spent the 18th and 19th Jan up at Eildon fishing the Coler bay area. The water is very brown and quite dirty, Trolled with small redfin color lures with no luck then switched to yellow Tassie and hooked a 2.5pnd Rainbow. I then switched all roads to tassies and pulled a 3pnd Rainbow on a white/black tassie. My mate kept using his redfin patterned little stumpy and was taking nice size reddys all day. Theres a Blue/green algue outbreak so I couldnt take any home so we released them to fight another day.

    Latest Eildon report 19/20th Feb

Just came back from spending a weekend fishing at Eildon. Still alot of Algae which has impacted the fishing in the lake. We found the fish are down deep 40 foot plus. Landed 2 browns approx 1pnd on a paravane where there was no Algue. We gave up trolling through the algae patches as its barren, once we found some clear water the Reddies were on the bite and landed 10 fish in about 15 mins. We then fished the pondage and I took a 3 pound Brown trout on Worms, tried corn and mudeyes and crickets with no luck, once again redfin were going crazy after sunset and were all taken on big scrubbies. The water color and visibility has improved.

Suggestions: Avoid algae blooms as O2 in water is very low in those areas. You will also need to get down to 40 or 50 foot Plus to reach the Thermocline, fishing in there should produce results as the water is still very warm. Lure colors : Bugger all worked flatlining, down deep the pink tassies were great. For reddies: A red and gold large bibbed rapala was the only lure that took fishing, nothing else worked (except the tassie's on the paravane)

For Bait fishing - Worms and more worms on a unweighted bubble float produced the large trout. I checked the stomach contents of the large trout and it was eating lots of bugs so I was suprised the crickets didnt work better.

    Latest Eildon report 19th March

Me and my regular fishing buddy took the new toy (pic below) up to Eildon on the Saturday, and what a fantastic days fishing was had!!.

Launched from frasers National Park at sun-up and motored to the pines, trolling on red tassies produced 6 x Rainbows from 1.5pnd up to 3.5pnds. Red was the only color that seemed to work, also took a heap of small reddies

After lunch we tried our Yellowbelly spot and we landed an 11pnd Yellow on a gold and black redfin pattern rapala.

Algue is nearly all gone but the water temp is still quite warm. No luck on Bait this time.
