    Cooktown Trout

I felt bad hijacking the New England trout thread so thought Id post a few pics from yesterday.
Went out and tried some new ground up north out from Cape Flattery.

First pic is of a nice swag of trout all pulled from one hang in 30m in about an hour.

Second is of a nice red emp (~8kg) caught by my mate John.

No pic yet will update when I get em but I managed a personal best large mouth, went 82cm ~8kg.

I love this time of year!!!!

Nice red Steve, your arms know it when you have brought one of them up from 30 - 50 metres. Hoping to get out myself shortly! Still stormy and plenty of rain here so soon as it clears a bit I'm out there.
    Cheers......Brian

We were only in 30m for the reds (normally target more in the 40s).
The trout were deep in 30plus metres... it gets that way in summer.
All on bait, different gear and rigs.

Was a nice < 15kn all day long! Weather looks prime this weekend too!
Probably time for some spearing and poppering me thinks.

Go get em Brian - all them were pulled less than 25nm from port.

The reds were from 40ish metres which is where normally target them, trout were in the 30s - deep BUT at this time of year with warm 30 plus degree water they do go deeper.

All caught on bait Dan, bit of hand to hand combat and some rod work as well!

Was a nice day <15kn and weather looks prime this weekend too!
All them shed jobs might just have to wait.
