as rod and reel combos go is an ET escape 60 rod with a shimano Alivio 2500FA any good?

    Fish?

No Idea, I found one on the side of the road, reel seems to work.

perhaps I should rephrase the question

As I know very little about fishing other than I seem to have a knack with a bait net and dont mind going for a swim to get dropped gear What would I use said rod and reel for?

From what i can find it seems to be a boat fishing combo sold by Big W. Not so great for casting as a estuary type rod but a good general all rounder. At the end of the day its a free fishing set up so now you have no excuse you will have to use it the line class (breaking strain) should be printed near the base of the rod.
