Trout rod
I'm after a good trout rod. Fishing small creeks and rivers around gippsland in Vic. Not needing anything with to much length. Haven't fished for trout in 20 years so i want to start again with the best gear.

When I used to go up the smaller rivers/streams, I used to take a little 5' "el-cheapo" kids rod, cost about $5 from out of the "bargain's' bin" , matched with the smallest reel I owned.
Worked well, could put a lure just about anywhere. The best thing about having a cheap rod was if I was to break it, it cost next to nothing to replace.
Depending on where exactly you are, maybe a Fly rod could be the go (?).
All in all, a good real matched to any cheap rod, due to expectations of breaking the rod (in my case anyway, with tight scrub), should put you in a good place.

hi mate,
try a shimano catana rod, around 60 bucks, get the soft plastic one and match it to any decent 2000 or 2500 size reel.
cheers
