    Wat no fish

Returned from a place called Lucky Bay [not the one near you CraigE] the week before xmas. During the week the War Office and I were there caught 8 fish. The only good one was a tailor round about 6lb. The rest were in the vincinity of 11/2 to 2 pound in weight. Very poor fishing for this spot. Usually you come home with your quoter of fillits or close to it. The water in close was quite cold compared with the norm yet, further out you could see mackeral jumping which denoted a warm current. Maybe the Leeuwin current was late retracting this year.
Brass monkeys were looking for welders when you went swimming.
    There is always next time.

As the old woman of Prauge said "that that is is"

Nice spot out at Lucky Bay, but the fishing has not been really good out there for some years. Off shore is a bit better, but that is degrading as well.
You get the occassional good one but not frequent any more. Hopefully getting out to Thomas River in the next week or 2 and see what is happening out there. There is a good shark fishing spot near Lucky Bay, but I have been sworn to secrecy, will see if it is as good as they say.
    Cheers

    Lucky Bay

    Hi Craig,

    Lucky Bay
Are you talking about the one south of Kalbarri or the one east of you?
I don't have a tinny, normally fish the beaches or reef.
This is the first year I have not brought home a decent amount to distribute amongst the two boys and their grandkids.

Anyway it was good to get away from the rat race.

    Mackeral

Hi long strokeDont have a boat and normally you dont need one. The water off the reef where I fish is about 7 to 8 meters. Deep enough for the big ones. I am talking tailor around 90 cm and 6 to 9 kilo. No bull.
    Include Snapper, spangled emperor etc.
