    Bull Bar rod holders

    Hi Guys
Ive been chasing a rod holder for the front of the Disco for ages.Nobody seems to have them.Got LOADS of excuses from tackle shops,Back Order, they arent made anymore as they are illegal, they sell out soon as we can get them,BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Found this beauty yesterday,it easily removes to cover the dangerous protusion law when not in use.Cost me $58,standard were $38 but not in stock.

I thought they were illegal on road. That looks the goods, though.

    They are Ron.
The idea is if you want to shift up the beach etc you just stick the rod in and move up.
Many just leave them there and risk the yellow sticker/injuring pedestrians.

Seems they are OK to use in QLD

Fishing rod holders can only be fitted providing they comply with the following conditions:
    • The fitting allows the driver a view of the road and of traffic to the front and sides of the vehicle.
    • They must only be attached to the left side of the vehicle.
    • They must be designed to carry no more than four fishing rods.
    • Rods, hooks and sinkers must be properly secured.
    • Vehicle lighting must not be obstructed by rods or holders.
Rod holders must be either removed when they are not in use or retracted behind the profile of the bull bar.

One point you missed is that nothing can protrude past the front of the bull bar

The Wilson as shown in pic is excellent. It is fixed with bottom mount behind the bar (not in front of the bar as shown in above pic) which means this mount (mount only not mount and holder) is 100% legal all the time on road with only UB bolt protruding in front of bar.

When on the beach (or in a beach community where local police turn a blind eye) you quickly fix the rod holder into the mount and take rods off the roof rack and mount them. All legal unless your local police view beaches and off road as if they are a city street with pedestrians
