    Tamboon Inlet (Vic)

Ok guys, I've heard that this is the place to catch a dusky flathead and all manner of other estuarine species. We're heading down there the week after Easter and camping at Peach Tree Camp. I have a canoe.
    Best baits and techniques please.

the big flaties there respond very well to live mullet as bait fished under a float on the edges of the weed beds or drop offs
soft plastics also account for some decent fish
you should be able to get bream / estuary perch , flathead ,should be some tailor about too at first light and dusk if its open , whiting on nippers or worms
its been along time since visiting tamboon but its a top spot
also dont be shy in towing around a few decent size baits or lurs as there are some good jewfish at times
prawns would be another good bait too
    have fun

Thanks for the advice. Spent a great week at the inlet. No flatties about. According to a couple of locals, this often hapens mid april, they just go off the bite.
But the Bream fishing was BRILLIANT
Well at least it was once a local who was leaving gave me a packet of prawns he buys from Bemm River or Marlo.....not the crap chemically treated ones generally available. The difference in these baits is amazing. Best fish on the crap prawns was barely legal.....SMALLEST on the local prawns was 600g, biggest 1.3kg!
