    ROCKHAMPTON FISHING ADVICE

We are heading off to Rockhampton in a week's time with a mate and his family for Beef Week. We'll be staying at Kinka Beach, about 40 minutes north of Rocky and while us blokes are busy with Beef Week, the wives want to go fishing.

Had a bit of a chat to the Capricorn Coast Tourist people at the Caravan, Camping & 4WD Show in Sydney last weekend and they reckon beach fishing isn't much chop up there and suggested river fishing at Zilzie.

Now the girls want it simple - somewhere where they can throw in a line, relax and hopefully get a few bites. We were hoping that beach fishing would be OK as we have a cabin right on the beach.

Any imput/advice from our AULRO friends up around that part of the country would be appreciated.

Also, if all else fails....where is a good place to buy mudcrabs up there as I reckon by the end of the week, we'll be sick of eating beef

    Thanks, Erich

    Thanks Phil,
We're pretty croc-wise after travelling so much "further up north" in fact we're heading into North East Arnhemland after Rockhampton, where crocs are all over the place.

Oh, and regarding the other info. you could PM me....I'll keep the info secret

    Cheers Erich

if i were back there ide head to keppel sands and fish the mouth of pumpkin and back around to the main beach. there are a few rock formations up pumpkin that did/should hold really good flaties and the beach back towards the main beach holds some nice whiting.

i grew up in this neck of the woods, fishing every afternoon after school... bugger the homework!
    cheers phil

Corio bay to the north past Rydges resort also worth a try. To get there drive past the resort till you hit a T junction then turn right and keep going until the end , the road turns to gravel not long after turning right. I fish up there semi regulary and encounter a few different species. Good luck !
