Thread: awoonga and surrounds

i just had a week at lake awoonga chasing barra well i spent most of my time in the boyne river in my yak as the winds were a bit strong during the day and i had a ball catching small mangrove jacks ,cod ,flathead , barracuda ,moses perch , mullet and a few other species while exploring the river which seems to have some great options and very fishy bits
the few sessions i had on the dam resulted in one i couldnt stop before it wrapped me around several snags and a 99cm barra landed
so ill be back again chasing the barra soon

the disco performed well doing a bit of 4x4 work getting to a good launching place

Sounds like you had a good trip.

I was there a few years ago about this time (if I recall correctly) and the water was still a bit cold and not many fish were being caught. We managed 3 barra, the best being 1.2m +.

I saw a monster being carried up the old boat ramp, by 3 people (they all had a hold of it) and they had to stop often to rest.
