Td5 turbo causing blowby
Hi lads. Recently my td5 defender started having some blowby. Motor was rebuilt 80000 kays ago and service every 5000kays. Recently when servicing I noticed excessive oil in the boost hose and slight breathing from the engine. The turbo has no play. Is it possible that my engine needs another rebuild so quickly. Crankcase valve is brand new genuine land rover. The cylinder head was replaced about 20000 kays ago is there something they could off stuffed up. Its a amc head.

Sometimes theses motors are just heavy breathers but the seal in the turbo could be a bit sad allowing oil to enter the compressor side this would put oil into the intercooler hoses a provent 200 I have found to be very handy also a heavier oil like 10w 40 would help as Land rover specs are European specs, we are not Europe our climate is very different .

WAs the turbo replaced?
My experience was that my TD5 did not heavy breath at 220Kk .
I would first be looking at rebuilding or replacing the turbo then see what the crankcase pressure is like. My turbo did not breathe much oil.
Maybe have compression and leakdown tests done.

When you say turbo boost hose, are you meaning the hose from the turbo to the intercooler? If so, its pretty normal to get some oil in there that blows through the system.
I would check the blowby via the oil filler while the engine is running.
Cheers
