    Show us your compost heap.

Here's mine.Well it was like that.

Talked to the farmer where we are working,he has chaff heaps in the paddock where the header trailer tips them. They only burn it,said take as much as you like.

Went and saw the local feedlot, asked if I could have some moo poo.He really likes the 7km bitumen road I built last year, told me help myself to as much as I want. They pile it up in paddocks and spread it with a muck spreader at seeding time.

So,2 trailer loads of chaff and 2 trailer loads of moo poo looks like this.A compost heap on steroids.

I will be mulching my olive trees and asparagus with chaff too, then top dressing with a heap of moo poo.Not too concerned about weeds there as I mulch heavily.Weeds in the vegie patch are a different story, hence the need to compost the chaff.

I mulched all my saved up newspapers and cardboard, soaked in water for a couple of days, the mulcher turns them into pulp.
Trying to get a heap of water into the heap now before covering it with black plastic.will wait until this rain goes away.

I rotate organic waste through 3 tumbleweeds and a chook pen. The tumbleweeds do a great job. I even throw in bones and shells, as being off the ground rats can't get in.

But they are operate on a much smaller scale.

1m3 each bin. Everything except meat & eucalyptus used in it. Often throw oyster shells through the mulcher to add to it.
Normally have one to use, one underway & the third is fresh.

Worms really love paper pulp,Ive tried a few smaller mulchers, they wont touch paper or cardboard unless you feed it in a tiny bit at a time.My machine eats full newspapers wet or dry.Its best to soak them as dry is messy, paper fluff blowing everywhere.

    Topped the compost heap upyesterday/today.
They vertimowed the footy oval early in the week, all the trimings are in a huge pile and composting.
I got a heap of it for my compost heap, cant stack it any higher by hand!!!Should have plenty now.Its smelling really sweet so its working well.
Will get some more water into it tomorrow then cover it.

Good work Andy, thats a big compost heap.

I didn't have to make a compost heap at our place.

A bush turkey arrived one day,and in two days, wrecked a section of our yard and made a massive compost heap, almost the size of yours

Smart bird,it was the only part of our yard the dog couldn't access.....

Once the breeding season was over,i used the compost for the garden, and changed the fences around,so the dog could get into that area if it wanted,so i doubt it will be back.

Here is our daughter's compost heap, which her partner knocked up for her. Yes, there is compost under those sticks.

So the Jackfruit fell over in the cyclone, but the roots were still attached, so we decided to try to save it. Stood it up, staked it, fertilised, built up the soil and trimmed it a bit. Here's hoping.

    Hoping to save these.

Also had to dig some drains to divert water and fill inside the chook pen to raise it above the water.
Spent yesterday morning chain sawing fallen branches and stacking them to dry for firewood.
We are going to need a tree lopper to do some surgery on the Chinese maple, which is huge and needs a haircut to balance it.
