Well the pineapple top I potted a year& a half ago is still growing & has now reached over 1.2 m high, I am wondering if I will need a step ladder to harvest the fruit once it comes on.

I just plant any tops I get as is. don't bother with getting roots started. They take 18 months to 2 years here on Brisbane's inner east side.

Does anyone know how long coconuts take to fruit? I planted a nursery tree about 18" high 25 years ago. It is now about 20' -24' high but no flowers or fruit yet. There was a productive one outside the manager's residence at the Hemmant caravan park. The owner said it was 25 years before he got a nut off it.

My dad planted about 12 coconuts in the 80’s and I reckon 20 years later when they sold the property they still hadn’t bared a single nut.

His theory was the dirt had to be just right.

A minimum of 2 years for fruit. The pineapples we picked from the plants have 3 new heads on them, now that has never happened before.

I keep having to move the pot the plant is getting so big I can't get past it to pick the fruit off the lemon & lime trees behind it. & still no sign of any fruit.
This is a good time of the year all out plants are thriving at the moment .

Well it's been 2 1/2 to 3 years now & had given up on our plant & SERPRISE I was watering it the other day & found DSCN4117.jpg It loos bigger in the photo than it is , just hope that it is sweet , can't remember what the one I took the top off tasted it was so long ago. Not sure what all the puppies ate at the base though or what to do with them . May have to have a Google on growing pineapples. Sorry about the banana but could not find a dancing pineapple
