    Auto Transmission

    There has been a lot of discussion about possible conversion to Auto Transmission over the years.

    Mostly about what could stand up to the impulses from the 4BD1 that destroy gearboxes.

    What about this?

    Looks like an Aisin trans, and the MU series IIRC had a 2.8 (4JB1T) not a '3.8'. This trans would last about 3.5 minutes behind a 4BD1, and also very possibly it is an electronically controlled one. Most out of that sort of vehicle are

    I still think it is worth trying a 4HP24EH from a P38a, and controlled via a compushift shift computer.
