Hello All,
I have a 1985 110 with isuzu engine, is factory standard no mods, I am having a few dramas with gear selection, just gets a bit difficult to get into gear sometimes, mainly into 2nd and 3rd, just doesn't want to go in at all, not like if grinds or anything, just won't push through the gate at all. Clutch bites right at the top of the travel, so possibly an issue, just wanted a bit of insight from people used to working on these. Car has been in the family since it was 2 years old, but I have only had it for 6 months.
cheers
Chris

Thanks for that, I will try to head over, I am not far away from there.
I can pick some brains then.
That's the best idea - a demonstration of the problem to someone with experience beats any number of words.
My guess is that the clutch is dragging, assuming there is some oil in the box.

I didn't get to the park on the weekend, the one days ntoice wasn't enough to get out of everything my wife had already organised.
I think I need to check my gearbox oil levels, was serviced not long ago, but before I got it. Who knows what they did. Any info around on these gearboxes, which gearbox should i have?
I had the same prob no gear selection would go in gate - clutch at end of travel, but only when engine running. Mine is an 85 county but a V8
Does it start in the affected gears and declutch OK? Or does it want to lurch against the starter even when the clutch is fully depressed.
If it only happens when the engine is running, check the clutch master cylinder level - if its low then probably leaking a common problem. Mine goes every 3-4 years. Check for brake fluid leaks on the drivers pedals foot mat - tell tale sign.
If you think its the master cylinder do a search there are threads on replacing & re sleeving with Stainless Steel bores etc.
You can bleed and keep refilling in the short term till you gets parts or take it to a workshop. The job should take 1 hour in the workshop, you have to drop the pedal box, bit fiddly but easy enough if you want to save the money.
It may also be the slave on the bell housing , but less likely. Should also be replaced too if your serious about maintenance.
Of course it may be the gearbox but I would really go over the whole clutch system first.

You should have the LT95 four speed gearbox. This has an integral transfer case but which has a separate oil supply (more or less - transfer of oil between the two is common, but not a serious problem). It is the strongest and generally most trouble free Landrover gearbox, but it is twenty-five years old!

Make sure you have the right oil in the gearbox. Use engine oil, not gear oil.
Do a search, lots of discussion about oils, whats best, synthetic, etc.
