    Fuel filter

    as an idea

    Has anyone swaped out there fule filter for a spin on type.

    how did you get on with the pluming and mounting etc

    the isuzu filter is a spin on filter.

    No problem chahging them over from element to spin on. You just have to buy a new (or used) mounting plate, fits straight on and the pipes plumb straight into the fittings. Part number is 5132120700. All the earlier motors eg. Stage 1 and I believe some Countys had the element type filters on both fuel and oil. You can do the same with the oil.

    thanks for that, had a bung washer on the long boult for the can on the element type, driping fule, a bugger to sort as the fan blows away the evidence

    Good idea. Also worth seeing if you can adapt a CAV type bracket and filter assembly as they are very cheap elements, as opposed to the spin on Z169a type.

    ahh yes, infor a penny in for a pound. maybe an inline one just after the sedimenter as well.

    mounting shouldint be a problem, what would you make the fule lines out of?

    Both my disco (300tdi) and county (200tdi) just have fuel hose running from the fuel filter on the firewall to the pump (lift pump on the disco, and injection pump on the county).

    And if you want one near the sedimenter just replace the sedimenter with one.

    After a 5 year restoration I had quite a bit of junk in the fuel system and so fitted a little in line filter before the injector pump as the strainer before the pump is a pain to get to. I now have a cav type ryco filter btw the water separator and the injector pump which is overkill but was a set up used on the isuzu stage 1's.

    I always thought it'd be nice to have one of those CAV double units, ie see through strainer/sedimenter combined with a spin on filter in place of the original strainer/sedimenter on the rear of the chassis.

    Appeals to me as well.

    I've read a few threads (I think in either the Technical or the D1 areas) on replacing the factory filters with CAV style. Some people have bought new housings, others have got them from wreckers.
