The truck pump is a vane type,it's outlet points directly towards the steering box when fitted to a landy.I guess that could be a reason for the different pump looking at the pics above, the lines are in different positions to clear the box.

I've never seen one like the larger one. The smaller one is like what's fitted to both of my Countys.

The pump is rated @ theoretical delivery volume 12.2 cc/rev
relief valve preset pressure 1208 psi
    preset delivery volume @ 200 rpm 8 L/min

I think you have that back to front. The small one is the one fitted to all landies I have seen and the larger one is the truck one. I have the larger one on my motor and it came from a 6BD1 motor from the wreckers.

Sorry about the confusion guys, the truck one(smaller) is what was fitted to the engine which I pulled out of a truck,I notice the pressure outlet in the above pic points forward instead of to the side to solve the clearance issue.
The larger pump is fitted to a mates rangy 4bd1T,he tells me it was a factory land rover pump that he bought 2nd hand.Maybe the seller of that pump wasn't aware of the differences?

My truck sourced 4BD1T has the smaller pump.

    I beg to differ.
I sourced a truck pump first up and it was the smaller pump. I then sourced a complete factory County set and that pump is larger than the truck pump??????

    Justin.

The truck pump did blow the seal on the 4 bolt box. I now run the 3 bolt box with the large pump and have no problems.

Ben, All I can confirm from my experience is that the factory fitted Isuzu powered landies have a small (shorter) pump. I have also seen the small pump on truck motors (although the inlet/outlets are in different positions) and the larger (longer) pump was fitted to 6BD1 motors. Thats where mine came from. It has been fitted to my 4BD1 for 17 years without any problems with seals. The handling is a little bit lighter than with the shorter pump but it hasn't given me any problems with seals.

    POWER STEER PUMPS

My 4BD1T is a truck motor. The high pressure outlet is on the side os the pump next to the steering box. My motor has been set up higher than the std setup for clearance between the oil filter anmd front tailshaft. The high pressure outlet clears the power ram bulge in the steering box (above it) and the bypass pipe is tweeked about 1/4'' so the banjo bolt doesnt hit it. This is the same pump as shown in my Isuzu 4BD1/T factory workshop manual. It is obviously different to Land Rovers pump. I have no problems with pump pressure at low revs or with steering box seals. The Land Rover pump runs at about 1400psi from memory.
