The usual reason is oil, so I presume you have it apart to know there is no oil. The other possible reasons are excessive wear on either the clutch driven plate or the pressure plate, or either of these incorrect part, or the pressure plate loose, or linings come adrift on the driven plate.

Then there are the clutch release problems that could cause it - you have already checked the obvious one, lack of free play on the M/C. Other possibilities would be a sticking master cylinder, a partly blocked hydraulic hose acting as a partial valve, or a sticking slave cylinder. None are in my experience very common. Another possibility is the clutch release sleeve sticking on the tube around the gearbox input shaft, again unlikely.

Has it been operating normally and suddenly decided to slip? Or have you recently changed anything?

Lamby, How much torque are you putting through it? is it still a NA clutch pressure plate?

I have mine out ATM and it has been slipping a bit by the looks of it. I have a Turbo spec pressure plate on the way for it before it goes into the 110.

I do have it apart, there was oil in the bell housing that has leaked through from a leaking sump gasket. But there is no oil on the clutch or oil on the fly wheel/pressure plate.

Ha JC I have a 6x6 pressure plate.

The only thing I have changed lately is fitting a intercooler and turning the fuel screw. 16psi so not sure what that equates to in torque.

Hi Mark, the 6by pressure plate should handle it. Put a new clutch plate in as well (you probably have it anyway). Mine started slipping as well not long after I fitted the turbo, same as yours no oil contamination but the standard pressure plate is not up to the torque of a turbo motor. Make sure you put a new rear main seal in while you have it apart.

Well today I found that the fork was getting caught on the bell housing, the fork had worn a groove and had a lip that prevented the fork coming back so the throw out still had pressure on the pressure plate. All fixed now and back together just need to bleed up and try it out

Thanks for letting us know what the problem was. I have not struck that one before!
