    Relatively minor problem.

Today I had planned to take the grandkids to visit a relative in Dunedoo. Started the County, and immediately became aware that it was far noisier than usual. Got out and lifted the bonnet - not there, turned out to be the exhaust pipe had broken just in front of the join under the passenger's door.

So instead of going out I pulled the pipe off, turned up an internal sleeve for the joint, and oxy welded it back together. Left it to cool while getting dinner, will put it back on tomorrow.

Very cleaver of you! Will it cause much restriction?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

None. The flange joint has a short (15mm) stub that goes outside and was welded to the pipe. The break was in this actual extension, which had corroded from the outside, probably helped by slush thrown onto the pipe by the front wheel - the flange seems to be a different grade of steel to the pipe and is more corroded, perhaps just that it acts as a stop so stuff accumulates not just slides off. So the new sleeve has the same internal diameter as the engine pipe. Probably would have been better to make a new flange joint complete, but that would have been a significantly bigger job.
