It seems pretty common. I get the oil light flickering on some corners if the oil level gets low enough. With enough oil it goes away.
While driving this afternoon I have just noticed that the oil pressure drops off significantly during a left hand turn. Now I have checked the oil level and it was a little under the halfway range on the dipstick but I would not have thought this would be low enough to expose the oil pump pickup during a turn.
Does anybody know what could be the cause of this sudden oil pressure drop?
Is it likely to be the oil level?
By the way, I have direct reading gauge not electric, so that rules out an electrical issue.

your pickup tube seal is cracked or the strainer is not seated on the tube correctly.

Guess I will have to drop the oil pan and see what I find.
Dave, the oil seal you are talking about, is it a seal between the strainer case and the bottom cover of the oil pump or between the pump body and cover?

Well I dropped the oil pan off the engine this afternoon, but can't seem to find any issue with the oil pickup or pump. I think it may have just been the pickup being exposed. Looking at the height difference between the dipstick markings and the oil pickup, I can see how easily the pickup could be exposed during cornering if the oil level is a little low.
now that I have the oil pan off, is there anything else I should before refitting it.
Cheers Paul
