you should just be able to sneak the 4bd1t in on the emission regs up to about a 2002ish chassised D2 but youd probably have to have A DPF to give it a good margin and wind the fuel back a little in off boost conditions.

good to know, i was wondering whether or not to engineer the LSE or be shonky:angel:, better speak to one i think:)
Thanks Men
Looks like a RRC conversion then:)

V - No , I don't think so , no leather and I do like leather : ( but it is
the correct year of manuf to qualify for Club Permit reg) ( May have to
check if mods preclude it from Club permit!)
PM me an approx price for yours just in case the other one doesn't work
out and if you decide you want to sell. Might just buy the interior:)
Rough $ you think for engine mount fab and weld?
Rough $ for tailshaft work?
Rough $ to get it engineer certified?
B?-5 core Rad recore. Rough $.. ? I have a mate that's into Car Racing
and may get him to get a special made up? The 110 has a newie fitted
but by the sound of it that will be too tall.
The ac will definately stay and we may also be towing a fair size van!
How does an intercooler come into play with regard to the rad?
A 2002 D2 would be the ducks guts but again maybe too much $$$ and
no qualify for Club Permit.
A few other things I thought of ;
Does Diesel gas injection and a turbo work okay?
Weight of 4BD1 compared to 3.5 V8?
Torque of 4BD1 "
Kw of " "
Got me thinking about
Spring upgrade to front? May be needed anyways for bar and winch etc
Upgrade of trailing arms?
Transfer case okay and no need for adaptor?
Any specific engine mounts to cut down ( as much as possible:D ) the vibration)
Also , was there much difference between say a 1985 Isuzu engine and a 1988. My mates seems to be smoother?
Pete
One last question for the night for the Vics.
After the Isuzu is fitted and you have an an engineers certificate , would it need a new RWC and would the vehicle have to be presented at a Vicroads center.
Just wondering if it matters if the donor vehicle is RWC or not?
Guess it helps if it's still in reg
Weight of the 4BD1, ASTR on 4BTswaps weighed a US truck version around 360kg (785 lb).
Torque.
NA around 280 Nm
10psi boost around 310Nm
15psi boost around 340Nm
15psi intercooled around 410 Nm
20psi intercooled around 470 Nm
These figures are conservative, based on 60% efficient turbo and 20:1 A/R ratios.
You can get significantly more by running hotter EGT's, more efficient turbos and better intercooling. The truck motors will top out around 600Nm which needs a little over 25psi on an efficient turbo and a good intercooler.
I have around 530Nm on 20psi boost with no intercooler. EGT's are rather hot so it needs baby-sat while towing.
The factory turbo truck motors have bigger elements in their injector pumps so they inject diesel in a shorter time-frame. The result is a cleaner burn, slightly more power and lower egt's than the NA motors will provide on the same fuel volume.
I see no reason to keep the gas.
To answer some of your questions, we cut out the engine mounts from a series 3 and welded them in, but to get them in the correct place we had to fit the engine and gearbox/transcase in place, tack the mounts in, remove the whole lot then weld them in properly.
Standard tailshaft for LT95 will fit (i was thinking of mine with the salsbury diff)
I just used the V8 radiator and had the bottom outlet rotated, easy!
Last car i got engineered i had to get RWC as well, vic roads only checked the engine number and copied the engineers report, didn't really give a stuff.
Oh and is worth going to all this effort if your only going to club reg it? I know reg is cheaper but then your limited to the amount you can drive it, may as well just get a stinky V8 one.
The others have answered most stuff. As for D-gas, yes you can have a turbo+D-gas, however IMHO it is a waste of time, the turbo will give you more than enough power and torque. I would sell it.
