    Isuzu to various models?

    Okay

Here is my latest crazy question.

Sat Deb in the County on the weekend and the lack of foot space may still be a problem ( will have to continue to check it out )

That got me to thinking that she was always comfy in our D2 regarding seating position etc.

    That then lead me to thinking , could I fit my reco Isuzu and LT95 (with future Turbo fit ) to any of the following ;

Classic Range Rover ( hasn't someone on here done this?)
    P38 Range Rover
    Discovery Series one
    Discovery Series 2

May be crazy but you never know?

I'm thinking that for rego in Oz, the P38 and the D2 (by virtue of factory emission standards achieved by the original factory fitted engines) would have to achieve lesser emissions than are possible with the 4BD1.

certainly I know of D1 and RRC conversions (usually turbo'd)....

    time to $tart $aving up for a project ?

    Emmission standards issue makes sense.

So the best option is to find a 1985 4 Door Hi line RR that has a shagged engine and transmission and convert away

    Notwithstanding engineering etc , etc

The 4BD1(T) was used in trucks until the mid 90s. So there should be no problem getting one approved and legal in a D1 (indeed people have done this). The D2 is a grey area, but may still be possible.

My brother has a 4BD1 / R380 in a disco 1, so it is possible. It was fitted by the previous owner. If you want to turbo it, you would have to route the compressor to air intake plumbing via the front as there is no room for a crossover pipe. Shouldn't be an issue if you want to intercool it tho.

Mark - that may be the one you saw on ebay about a year and a half ago.

    Cheers

The D1 and RRC swaps will be very similar, but the sheetmetal in the D1 engine-bays seems to have changed a little during it's life and this may mean some work-arounds.

My RRC is pretty much exactly what you're looking at. 1985 4 door, long stick gear lever, vogue interior (hi-line in Aus).

The cross-over pipe on my engine runs behind the rocker cover. I'd recommend an intercooler and the MSA gearbox. Grubb's new short-stick kit for these can't be far away. Wouldn't there be more value in selling the county whole and building up a new vehicle with the truck engine (factory 4BD1T) and matching MSA gearbox?

Try a different seat rail arrangement to get more leg room. That will not address the other creature comforts though.
