Thread: Brake Booster Reco Kits

I looked into repair kits etc when the booster on my D1 was dead, and the general response was that it was a very hit or miss affair.
I ended up putting a good used one on my D1 and its been fine since then (3 years).
If its on a vehicle that you intend to keep I'd definitely just get a new one.

Defender brake boosters are only $220 on eBay from Classic Land Rover. They are listed as 91 onwards, so not 100% sure if they they mount up exactly the same on earlier 110's. From the look of it they are the larger diameter booster which would be an improvement if you have the earlier small diam one.

Thanks for the feedback Steve, I'll look into the defender booster compatibility into a stage one. Sounds like a new ones the way to go.

If anyone knows if this can be done would be appreciated?

Have heard that the mod to do is a Disco 1 booster, also, the 6x6 appears to use what looks to be an F series ford booster- be nice and cheap with a lot of braking power. Can anyone comfirm? Mines still good, but keeping an eye out for a replacement.

There should be no reason why you need a different booster for a rear disc conversion, Im still using the same booster with no bad side affects!!!
Also the brake pedal towers are interchangeable from series to county etc. I think the boosters may be interchangeable, although I havent tried!!
