    Ive seen this on a front axle....

    the stub side of the CV let go (which in and of itself is unusual its normally the axle from the diff to the CV that goes.) and flared out the axle inside the stub, the metal from the hub side embedded itself inside the stub and locked up the drive flange. Fortunately we were able to pull the hub off the bearing because there was no way the inner bearing was coming out over the bulge in the hub.

    ok with the flange on backwards and a couple of larger guys hanging off a crowbar. plan B came into action.

    Another diff is lined up ready to go but it needs stubs.
    That could be a problem because I think the axel is locked to the stub.

    Now a question is front hubs interchangeable with rear hubs? they look the same in the book but that means nothing

    I have had the same problem, I snapped a axle and it snapped right at the end of the spline into the side gear. The little piece worked it's way into the diff center locking the side gears and spiders together and drove of one axle, as you have experianced, removing the axle is difficult due to being bent inside the housing. The diff center was stuffed as the side gears and spider gears had broken teeth

    Yes that would do it, the only thing is that the axel is tight, no movement detectable at all, in and out or sideways at the flange end

    No, Disc and Drum hubs are completely different. Stubs are rear specific as well.

    RRC (10-spline) stubs may be the same.

    I have a pair of perentie rear hubs which I think would fit, but outlaw has claimed them (but not yet collected).

    OK as suspected the axel has welded itsself to the stub. These are new county axels, ( a bit longer) but they also had a machined surface for an inner seal ( grease hubs) why on a county i don’t know. But they slid in ok and i didn’t think much about it at the time. Obviously it picked up some where and now is locked solid.
    Had it in the press, only 5 tonne with enough heat to make every thing Blue, didn’t budge at all. But with a blued stub, your not going to use that again so there was no point in wasting time.

    I have a couple of pics on my phone but blue tooth is not an option in our home.

    New stub coming from TRS i already have seals bearings etc. which is good still gives SWMBO a day to load up for Blinman
