    Ebay alternators

I have been pricing alternators to replace my old external reg model with a 70 amp internal reg model.

All the aussie ones I ring for a price seem to be over $500. The Rodeo ones on ebay are over $300.

The US ebay seems to have then ranging from $85 to $250 plus $130 postage, with most around the $100-$130 mark.

Has anyone bought a cheap alternator off ebay and should I expect a cheap ebay alternator to last more than 2 years?

    Thumbs up

    G'day,
I bought an aftermarket alternator from a mob in Melbourne for about $300 including postage to Sydney. No problems, it worked perfectly. It was for a Patrol so not sure if they have what you need, but give them a call, they were extremely helpful and great service.
    The ebay member was "autocoolingparts"

there are a few of us which have.. if you search around the forum you should find some posts about it. There is a early and later 70A type for the 4BD1.. with a different bracket - check measurements or be ready with a hack saw.

I have read through many past threads about the two different brackets and different part numbers I'm not afraid to do a little hacking if need be.

That ebay mob had a Rodeo alternator listed but it didn't state the amps. They have just confirmed it's a 70 amp unit for $300, so it looks like that's the way I'll be going.

If you find one in the US and need shipping assistance, let me know. Some of the guys on the board have been very helpful in arranging for bits to be sent from AUS to the US and I'm happy to return the favor.
